What is a Central Vacuum System?

A central vacuum system, or in-built vacuum cleaning system, consists of a small number of conveniently located inlet valves linked by concealed pipe-work.

The central vacuum unit is normally located in a garage, utility room, cupboard or basement and is connected to the pipe-work system.

The vacuum cleaning system is automatically activated by inserting a lightweight hose into one of the inlet valves or alternatively with a retractable hose system.

The motors used in a CVC power unit are generally larger and more powerful and are located in a fixed position.
enviroment icon
Because all of the vacuumed dust and debris is removed from your living areas and deposited into the power unit, there is no re-circulation of the fine dust spores that are evident when using portable vacuum cleaners. This is a major benefit to both children and adults alike in removing the harmful irritants that are responsible for causing allergies and asthma conditions.

In today’s modern insulated homes, the indoor air quality is often highly polluted with respirable fine dust. A CVC system removes fine micro-particles and dust mites and doesn’t recycle them within the home or workplace.

Using your Central Vacuum System couldn’t be easier, the lightweight hose and array of cleaning attachments makes cleaning far more versatile and faster too.

Imagine not having to carry a heavy portable vacuum upstairs, but instead just a lightweight flexible hose and cleaning attachments, resulting in a faster more efficient cleaning experience.

Despite the larger motor of a central vacuum system, they offer a much quieter cleaning experience and you’ll only experience low noise levels at the end of the cleaning hose.

Older System Upgrades and Servicing

If your enquiry relates to a new power unit or upgrade, let us know the details of your existing system and we’ll advise you accordingly.

Generally, central vacuum systems are virtually maintenance-free. However, as with any motorised or mechanical equipment, we’d recommend a service of your power unit and a check-off your inlet valves etc. to ensure that your system is performing as it should be.

Testimonials

Bruce Muir

I installed the BVC S700 Blackline machine several weeks ago now as a direct replacement for my 20-year-old Elek Trends 2500 Tornado machine.  I am very pleased with this new machine as it’s much more powerful than its predecessor which is obviously a great bonus!  It was very easy to install and, despite it being quite large, I was able to do it by myself.  I did need to modify the position of input pipe but fortunately, being an engineer, I never throw anything away, so I still had some bits of pipe and bends around from when I installed the original system.

A few minutes extra work and I was up and running.   It is also a great looking machine, but as it is out in my garage this is not a major consideration to me.
Many thanks for all your help and advice in deciding that this was our best option, and it was most reassuring that you would be able to talk me through it, if had I hit a problem. J

Kind regards.

Richard Kirby

Our old ELEKTRENDS-EUROFLOW integrated vacuum unit failed recently after 13 years. I had trouble finding UK support either to repair or replace the unit, so I started to look for alternative options. Chris at VacuSystems responded promptly to my initial enquiry and was able to provide useful advice on a suitable alternative integrated vacuum unit from BVC in Germany. In our case the C600 model was the appropriate replacement for our ELEKTRENDS-EUROFLOW EF1410I DEL9132323M 1200W model. With minimum DIY skills I was able to easily swap out the ELEKTRENDS-EUROFLOW unit with the replacement BVC C600 unit, connecting it to the existing vacuum pipework with the minimum of effort. The C600 also does not need an external exhaust outlet, having an integrated HEPA filter, so this also simplifies the installation process. We also retained the existing room wall sockets and hose/brush. The new BVC C600 unit is more powerful than the old ELEKTRENDS-EUROFLOW unit and there is a much stronger suction when hoovering the house. We are pleased with the end result and thank Vacusystems, for their ongoing support during the whole process.

Bruce Maddick

I bought a BVC central vacuum from VacuSystems in July last year (2020), I have had time to see all that it can do, and It is exceptionally good and is more efficient than the Italian model that it replaced. I also bought a 28cm turbo brush and a 60cm crevice tool.

The carpet brush is very good, and the crevice tool is excellent for vacuuming behind radiators and getting into narrow gaps behind the fridge and the sides of the washing machine.

I have also found that the crevice tool is good for reaching the difficult to-get-to spots in the car.

Chris Brown of VacuSystems was extremely helpful and I bought the carpet brush and the crevice tool on his recommendation.

He arranged the fitting of the vacuum and the disposal of the old one.

The Iqbals Family

On behalf of the whole family, we are grateful to Chris from VacuSystems. I am not one to write reviews, but after the most inventive service I have ever received from a company I had to take the time out to give credit where it is most definitely due. Coming from a business background whereby we pride ourselves on the service we give our customers, we cannot fault a single thing in the professionalism and tailored care given.

Although, we had a previous central vacuum system in place, the company we brought it off stopped doing services and did not have the best customer service. We had a faulty machine but thanks to Chris Brown we are now very content with our new BVC S700 vacuum unit. Chris happily assisted me step by step through phone calls and several emails and went beyond to find the best possible cost-efficient solution for myself. We really appreciate Chris going the extra mile and helping us sort some HRV air filters within our home too. He really did go over and above to assist us and even organised an engineer to ensure the work was done and we were ready to go.

The follow up experience has been amazing and we are grateful to now have a long-standing relationship with VacuSystems and cannot emphasise enough how much we would recommend them.

S&G Services

We’re a Blackpool-based building services company and for many years have installed central vacs in a variety of domestic and commercial properties in the UK. In 1999, we purchased our first two vacuum systems from VacuSystems of Liverpool which we installed in a couple of new build houses in Worksop.

Our customers were very impressed with the vacuums and we’ve since ordered a number of vac systems and cleaning accessories for other projects. As well as the domestic house systems, we’ve also purchased and installed larger machines in a couple of hotels and a care home. We normally do the installations of the vac-cleaning systems using our own operatives and simply purchase all of the items from VacuSystems.

Our experience with VacuSystems has been very good and they’ve always maintained a professional service to us. The whole process is simple, we just send them our drawings and they produce a design and cost proposal, which generally is undertaken in a quick and proficient manner.
Given the opportunity, we always recommend VacuSystems to other trades and potential new customers and rate their products very highly.

Mr. Ian Smith

Chris Brown at VacuSystems has now on two occasions provided me with excellent service when my vacuum system needed some attention.

My BVC S860 vacuum unit was provided to me almost 14 years ago, it has proved to be a very reliable unit. In April this year when I needed to replace my hose and sweep inlet, I found that the original supplier of my system had gone out of business. On searching the internet, I found VacuSystems who are now the UK distributor for BVC Vacuums.

I contacted Chris and straightway found him to be extremely helpful and he was able to recommend suitable replacement parts for my vacuum system.

At the beginning of November, the motor of my vacuum system failed. After a quick telephone call and a follow up email, Chris was able to source a new motor as well as replacement filters and dust bags. The replacement motor and filters arrived from Germany in only three days!
I can not recommend enough the friendly, professional service and advice I have received from Chris at VacuSystems.

Kelvin Dobson

In January 2018, VacuSystems supplied us a BVC S600 vacuum unit and fittings for the central vacuum cleaning system at the Ilkley Riverside Hotel at the Riverside Gardens in Ilkley, Yorkshire.

The central vacuum unit is located within the basement and it’s linked to a small number of valves throughout the hotel. To operate, we insert the cleaning hose into a wall mounted valve outlet and the system is activated automatically.

We have 6 outlets on the system with good suction on all. VacuSystems supplied free of charge any bits needed to connect to the new system. Highly recommended.

Stephen Brown

In 1989 we had a central vacuum system installed by Vacusystems in our residentiual care home in Irlam, Manchester. It proved such a sucess that we decided to install a second vacuum system to service our new 13 bedroom extension in 2009.

Once again, we chose Vacusystems to install and service the vacuum system and provide us with the cleaning hoses and attachments too. We have always found the help and service exceptional, no problem too big or too small.

We have no hesitation in recommending Vacusystems.

  • Mr & Mrs Hague

Chris from Vacusystems installed our central vacuum system in 1998 and we’ve since enjoyed many years of trouble free use. The inclusion of the built-in system has really contributed to improving my asthmatic condition (Mrs Hague) and because the system is located in our garage, it’s quiet inside our home when vacuuming. It’s very powerful and easy to use the hose and cleaning tools!

Vacusystems have supplied us with cleaning attachments and disposable filter bags and I can fully recommend vacusystems and compliment them on a friendly, efficient service.

  • Mrs Brick

We currently have a BVC S600 central vacuum unit which is in our garage. For many years Vacusystems have supplied us with cleaning hoses and attachments and ongoing aftersales. We have always had excellent service from Chris Brown and would highly recommend the Company.

  • Tina Alexander

We had a vacuum system installed in our home when it was built in 20001.

I am really pleased with the performance of the system (S1050 by vacusystems) which has been working since then with no problems encountered. Just one tip! it is powerful, so don't leave anything in its path that you don't want to disappear along with the dirt and dust! Not the first time I have had had to search through the waste filter bag, which by the way does not need emptying after a few uses like other vacuum cleaners.

Other than that, highly recommended. I don't understand why this system is not put into more new homes during construction, when it can be done with little or no disruption!

  • Wendy Brierley

We have been using our central vacuum system since the mid-1990s and it was supplied and installed by VacuSystems of Liverpool. Our large property is serviced by two separate S2800 vacuum units and we really like the power and flexibility that an in-built vacuum system offers. Our two lightweight hoses are easily inserted into the wall valves and the cleaning is undertaken in a quiet, fast and effective manner, using a variety of specialised floor and upholstery tools. Since the original vacuum installation, there have been some new innovative tools and accessories introduced, which we’ve purchased from VacuSystems, who have proven to be a very friendly and dependable company.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Marshall

In June 1998, we extended our property space with a loft conversion and refurbishment of our four-bedroom home and included a central vacuum system, serving all three levels. After searching for a supplier and installer of integrated vacuums, we chose VacuSystems and they installed a Vacu-Maid P73H and three inlet valves, one on each floor level. The installation was completed in one and a half days, without fuss and in a very professional manner. We have been delighted with our choice of supplier and central vacuum system and the level of service provided and would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone contemplating a central vacuum installation. Since the initial installation, we’ve upgraded our cleaning hose and attachments and the friendly service encountered and the prompt delivery of our new items impressed us both!

My company has been using our central vacuum system from VacuSystems for more than 10 years. We have had 3 premises changes in that time and each time we have moved our Vacu-Maid central vacuum unit with us. In our first premises, one use for the system was to clean out the insides of the HI-FI products we were repairing so goods were returned to clients as clean as new. Its silent operation meant that our 3-man repair team did not disturb each other whilst using the central vac system. It also meant that our cleaner could work in the office for hours to do our cleaning without disturbing administration, sales, training and repair staff; no heavy equipment being lifted up and down the stairs, thus risking accident and it also meant our cleaning tasks could be handled by anyone weak or strong. When we moved the central vac system unit to a new location, it was easy to dismantle and, with new piping and fittings, it was easy to reassemble in a day. When we moved, no one in our offices wanted to return to loud, bulky and limited life vacuum cleaners when we already had an economic, reliable, lightweight and silent tool to use day in, day out. None of our staff see taking a turn to use the central vac system as a chore. It is a quick, efficient silent tool that gets the job done!

  • Alex McKechie

In December 2008, we were renovating our property in Allerton, Liverpool, when we decided to include a built-in vacuum cleaning system. As a plumbing company, we were familiar with the concept and had received good endorsements about C-Vac systems from other trade associates. We invited a couple of companies to survey our premises and decided on VacuSystems to supply the complete system. As plumbers, we installed the central vacuum system ourselves, which was straightforward and involved installing four inlet valve kits, with PVC pipe, fittings and LV cable, which took two days to install. The vacuum unit is an Astro-Vac SR15 model, which is both powerful and reliable and all the items were delivered within two days of ordering. VacuSystems also supplied us with our automatic cleaning hose and attachments and the system is so simple to use and we don’t have to carry a heavy vacuum around anymore! We’re delighted to have included a central vacuum and would recommend VacuSystems to other trade associates, friends and family.
